Crinolines. This unwieldy item of clothing has become one of the essential Deepings Doll shapes over the years, though our turner does have to seek out wider pieces of wood to get the distinct bell-shaped skirt effect.

We use the crinoline shape for many of our historical figures such as the Brontës, Mary Shelley, Lady Jane Franklin and Mrs Elizabeth Macquarie.  Also our Victorian bride, our Valentine range, and several Christmas dolls because what’s Christmas without Victoriana?

Every doll is different, individually painted, and it’s amazing how many different crinolines we have seen over the years.  Sadly, thanks to the nature of the dolls, which have to be turned in the round, we will never have a Deepings Doll sporting a bustle!
